Fiesta Americana Villas Acapulco

Fiesta Americana Villas Acapulco

This is a top-tier all-inclusive resort in Acapulco. I have stayed at 2 of the Fiesta Americana resorts prior to this one and they are just amazing. So I am on the edge of my seat as my flight takes off.

Day One Travel and Arrival

My flight brings me into Acapulco after two stops and more than a few hours on the planes. This is not the straight shot that it feels like when going to Cancun. The flights feel a bit like flying to Hawaii, but shorter.

10 hours of air flight later, I arrived. The resort had made transfer arrangements for me and several other guests through a local provider. So we boarded a small bus and went to the resort.

When you arrive at the resort, you are struck by the scale of the main tower building, and the many pools on the edge of the amazing cliff and beach settings.

Over the years, Acapulco has held a reputation as a wilder, less tamed destination. One of the joys of staying at an all-inclusive resort is that you never need to worry about the surrounding area unless you elect to.

I have stayed at several resorts in Jamaica that are amazing, but the general crime outside of the area leaves something to be desired. I once stayed at a local attorney’s home where he rents out an apartment to guests. His waterfront home is amazing, but on the outside of the home he has razor wire and he must let dogs loose at night to protect the property. Here you will absolutely not find that. Acapulco is by no means that rough.

The top reported crime is pickpocketing and they do likely have some of the best in the world here. So common petty theft is something to be wary of offsite. On-site, you can relax and enjoy yourself completely.

The only thing to be aware of is drinking the water from the tap, but you need not mess with that if you have unlimited drinks, both alcohol and sodas or juices. Just remember to use bottled water when you brush your teeth.

As with any travel, even inside the United States being safe when you travel often has to do with not appearing to be a tourist and being situationally aware. You will look like a traveler here no matter what, but you can certainly be aware of your surroundings. In other words, do not do anything in Mexico you would not do back home. Walking down dark side streets and alleys just do not make sense.

Enough about travel safety thoughts.

The resort here sits in an amazing location. I wondered instantly how much the company once paid for this amazing location on the sea. It is not only amazing and beautiful, but it is also unique.

From their website:

Fiesta Americana Acapulco Villas is just a few steps from a variety of fabulous shops, restaurants, and bars. In our hotel, our guests enjoy excellent facilities that include beautiful swimming pools overlooking the bay, direct access to the beach, a fully equipped gym, a modern health club with massage service, delicious dining options, and much more.

Once I checked in and saw my room, I was blown away. The view here overlooks the water and a bay where you can see the other side of the bay and the amazing location in its near full expanse. It will take your breath away. Pictures can not do it justice. I have had some great cameras in my life, but none could capture this.

The small rolling mountains behind the other resorts and locations on the other side of the waterway just seemed to flow with a rich bounty of beauty here.

My room was flat-out impressive with the views of the sea, and the view of the other side of the waterway here. I had opted for a villa’s master suite and wow was I happy I did.

The room is giant at almost 1,000 sq ft. It has everything you could want and more. My unit even had a little kitchen area which to me is overkill since the resort offers so much food, but if you were traveling and wanted to make your own coffee, or wanted to chill your own wine or something you have the full set up available.

I also had a jetted tub that I plan to use often. I do not know why I never installed one at home as much as I enjoy them. Maybe because I think like with a hot tub, I would use it a lot at first but then seldom later.

The local views reminded me of Hawaii. The only difference in the views was the local foliage. Hawaii just has the most amazing flowers and plants, but this was darn close. Wow, just wow.

After getting settled in and sorted, I was starving and hit the buffet to sample many menu items. RESTAURANTE CHULA VISTA is the buffet restaurant on site and is a great option for dinner or breakfast for sure.

The meal I had was perfect, and I was able to sample some of their local dishes, which was nice. I like buffets because you can try more food items and find what you like. That is particularly fun when you are traveling.

Afterwards, instead of dessert from the buffet, I went and had a fresh coconut drink with rum in the coconut. As I sat by the pool with lovely people around me, I was transported to a different time. I felt like some kind of royalty or an elite of older times for a few moments. I just felt pampered and happy. Full belly, a great drink, and amazing views of the water with a slight breeze from the sea.

It is at times like this that I wonder what I must have done in a prior life to deserve these moments. Not as a spiritual experience, but just a feeling of gratitude that I was here and that I somehow made it.

Day Two I did it again

Once in a while on Vacation, I will forget to close my blinds at night. This was one of those mornings when the sun woke me up and reminded me of my folly.

So, after a fast shower off to the buffet for breakfast, I go. A great omelet and many sides later, I enjoyed some freshly squeezed fruit juices and was ready to take on my day.

I reached out to the concierge and arrange some scuba gear. Luckily, the water temperature here would not require a wet suit because I would not likely find one for my tall and large frame. At 6’4” and too many pounds, I likely would need a wetsuit made by a truck tire company these days. But I am buoyant that is one thing I guess.

The scuba here was impressive. If you are not scuba certified, the area has some great first-dive experiences and new divers are certainly welcome.

After a few hours of scuba fun, it was back to the main resort for a late lunch and a few adult beverages. Man rum just tastes better here.

Next, I arranged to see the fearless cliff divers of La Quebrada. I am too old and out of shape to try it myself, but it was something cool to see, especially in the hours around sunset. You can do excursions like trips, or you can just arrange transportation. I opted for transportation only since the resort has such good food and most tours include a meal which seemed overkill given how good the resort’s food truly is.

The drop for the divers is about 90ft, so this is not a beginner exercise or event. The divers even respectfully pray prior to their dives as a part of the ceremony and experience. I do not blame them for either part.

Day Three The Ending

How do you end such a dream vacation?

What do you do on your last day at such an amazing resort?

I was not going to try to figure it all out in advance. Instead, I wished only to stay on site all day, and eat, drink, and relax, enjoying as much as I could. I had not really hit the spa-like I wanted to yet, so I made appointments for that. I started at the breakfast buffet again and had another round of great breakfast foods.

I do not know about you, but breakfast seems like a treat because I do not get to do big breakfasts at home often. I am too busy to stop and make a ton of items for just me. If I have company, I like to make them breakfast and spoil them. But even that is not as often now as my nieces and nephews have grown up and do not stay as often.

After breakfast, it was spa time and I had booked several things in the spa, including a 4 hand massage. Imagine two people whose entire focus is your comfort via touch for 60 minutes. It is incredible. I have had 4 hand massages at other locations in my life. They are always great, but these two ladies knew their stuff. They found muscles that I had no clue I still had, or that were tense.

During the session, I am sure I made at least a few noises that I did not intend to make, something along the lines of “oh wow that is great” but muffled by my head on or in a towel. I also heard more than a few pops of bones moving as muscles were released. It was as if my body was a bowl of Rice Krispies at one point: crack, snap, pop.

When I left the SPA, my body was done for the day, feeling so relaxed the limits of my activity were sitting by the pool ordering a drink for the next few hours. Oh, life is hard (I joked to myself).

If you want dream days on a vacation like this one, you must do two things. Consider an all-inclusive resort experience and book with TZort.
