Day One Travel & Arrival at Holiday Inn Club Vacations Ozark Mountain Resort
I have had the pleasure of staying in the Branson area before and I was happy to be going back. For myself and many others, the way to Branson is often a flight to the local Branson area airport. Flights to Branson are lower cost than many locations because of the number of flights that arrive daily.
The resort is very close to the airport and Branson itself. I had a rental car waiting for me on arrival and went first to find the resort, which was less than 20 minutes away from the airport. Branson itself is a bit farther and since I was too early for check-in, I drove from the resort to Branson itself for a late lunch during that free time before checking in.
What I like about this resort is the natural location on the lake. It offers some of the water activities that other resorts in the area lack, as well as great views.
Day Two Branson Sights
Starting the day with a breakfast for champions. In most areas on vacation, I try to avoid chains. Here I like some of the chains. Bob Evans is a great place for breakfast. I had the Banana Berry Farmer, which has a choice of premium breakfast meat with two fresh-cracked eggs cooked-to-order and your choice of hash browns, home fries, or fresh-cut fruit. Served with three blueberry hotcakes topped with fresh bananas. That was a great breakfast.
One of my favorite things to do in Branson visits the Silver Dollar Theme Park. This park has an 1880s American theme and great rides, and fun for the entire family. I think this park is like a cousin to Dollywood Park, or what would happen if Dollywood and Bush Gardens had a baby? It has some of the neat features from both, just built around an 1880s theme.
I went on the Fire-In-The-Hole! Ride through the darkness of an Ozark night filled with mysterious sounds and mischievous deeds. The Baldknobbers have set the town ablaze, and your only escape is the fiery bridge where danger awaits!
This signature Silver Dollar City indoor roller coaster is a family favorite, offering high-speed drops and thrilling surprises around every corner.
Next was the Marvel Cave
When visiting Silver Dollar City, a tour of Marvel Cave is always included with your ticket, with tours departing throughout the day, weather permitting. Marvel Cave is a wet limestone cave, complete with formations that are still alive and growing! To begin, you will travel 300 feet below the surface and enter the Cathedral Room. The breathtakingly beautiful Cathedral Room is the largest cave entrance room in the United States. The visitors’ trail consists of stairs and ramps. The tour lasts approximately 60 minutes, with most of that time spent descending and climbing stairs. The strenuous nature of the tour requires us to not recommend the tour for visitors with heart or lung conditions, bad backs, weak knees, or ankles. A trained cave guide will host your journey and provide you with interesting and entertaining anecdotes of historical or geographical importance.
After descending nearly 500 feet below the surface, how do you get back up to daylight? In 1957, cave operators installed a unique cable train designed to take cave visitors up the half-mile, 1070-foot climb back to the surface!
Novelist Harold Bell Wright represents one of the many famous spelunkers to venture into Marvel Cave. Missouri’s deepest cave is rich in history and beauty. Don’t miss out on a unique opportunity to see a side of Mother Nature few are fortunate enough to experience.
After the cave experience, I was ready for some food. There is a smokehouse on site that offers the best-smoked meats. Make sure after your meal to try the blackberry butter cake. The food was good and for inside a park, I felt the prices were reasonable.
Take a virtual ride on all the coasters here at Dollar City.

The park is great and something the whole family can enjoy.

After the Titanic, I was ready for some lunch. The museum and exhibits are fun, but you still process what really happened, and that is a heavy experience.
Starving Marvin’s was my spot for lunch. I had the country-fried steak, and it was great. After I went to Andy’s Frozen Custard. Custard is so rich it is almost like another kind of dessert instead of ice cream.
