Holiday Inn Club Vacations Scottsdale Resort

Holiday Inn Club Vacations Scottsdale Resort I always hear about Scottsdale, but I have never been, so I am excited to see the area. My guess ahead of the time about the area is that it attracts people for vacations from the local area.

Day One Travel & Arrival at Holiday Inn Club Vacations Scottsdale Resort

My trip started with a flight out of the area. The closest international airport is Phoenix Sky Harbor. It is close enough that the drive from the airport is just over 20 minutes. I did book a rental car since I am new to the area. I wanted to be able to drive around and get to see Scottsdale.

I had timed my flight so that I would arrive just around the check-in time. By the time I got my bags, and the rental car, and drove to the resort, it was about the check-in window of time. So, that worked out very well.

My choice was a 1 bedroom from the signature collection. The resort offers 2, 3, and 4 bedroom options. My villa was great and laid out like the beach condos I love at Myrtle Beach. The exception here was the generous amenities of the resort, including epic pools, waterslides, and lots of fun.

Villa Amenities

  • Balcony/Porch
  • Blender
  • Cable TV
  • Coffee Maker
  • Dishwasher
  • Ice Maker
  • Microwave
  • Oven
  • Refrigerator
  • Stove/Range

Then the resort itself offers all of these options.

Resort Amenities

  • Free WiFi
  • Outdoor Pools
  • Business Center
  • On-Site Restaurants
  • Fitness Center

For dinner, I chose to try the resort restaurant for some Southwest Mexican food. The meal was fine, I will try it for breakfast on another day.

Recent Reviews of Holiday Inn Club Vacations Scottsdale Resort

I enjoyed my stay again this year! Some friends and I come to play a few rounds of golf every year; we have been staying here for the past few years and I really like it. The staff is extremely helpful, and the facilities are well-kept. I thoroughly enjoyed the addition of the adults-only pool area; continual improvement is what it’s all about!

The coolest place for families! Beautiful grounds, four pools including an activity pool with slides and an activity center (ping-pong, shuffleboard, TVs, and more). Restaurant with good food and drinks on site. Activities every day for the kids (make tie dye shirts, movie night, trivia, crafts, etc.) Close location to town. The rooms were huge, full of kitchens and everything for cooking. I was super impressed. Awesome place for all ages!

Looking for a place to let your little ones burn some energy? This is your place. I don’t want to add pictures to spoil it for you to look at on their website, but there is an excellent pool with a nice spiral water slide! The kids will love it and it’s an excellent vacation for anybody looking to come to Scottsdale from out of the state for a good stay and save some money.

Day Two Old Town

Old Town Scottsdale is a special place filled with amazing restaurants, fine art galleries, souvenir outlets, jewelry shops, and unusual stores. The area has a fun architectural feel and is in the heart of downtown Scottsdale. I spent a few hours just walking and enjoying the art and local shops.

Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art this museum was a great stop since I paint some and enjoy seeing other artists’ work.

Next, I went Porters Western Saloon. It was a great little hole-in-the-wall place to have a few and get out of the heat for a few minutes.

Interesting side note:

For whatever reason, the area is full of Segway tours and things to do via Segways. If you have ever wanted to ride one and go sightseeing, this is your chance.

Party Bike

For the active partiers, there are peddle bars in this area as well. Book with a group of friends and enjoy drinks on a mobile bar as you peddle down the road.

Now I prefer the Tiki Boat bars, but I am a simple man. If you want an easy peddle ride, this is the one for you.

IFly Phoenix

If you have not had the IFly experience yet, now is your chance to give it a try. This is much of the fun of a Skydive without the danger. You get a helmet, skydive suit, and help to position yourself above a giant fan that enables your flight.

For large folks like me understand they have a functional weight limit of 260lbs. For people who are larger, the fan speeds are too much for most of their instructors to support you in the airflow. With advanced booking they may be able to accommodate people up to 300lbs. So, if you are in that weight range, call and make sure to book ahead.

I have been before but went as a family spectator as an exception since I was too heavy to go in. I took a video camera and paid for the privilege of taking the footage.

For the fit and active, this can be a powerful and fun experience.

Day Three Baseball

Salt River Fields Baseball

From their website. We are very proud to be the spring training home of the Arizona Diamondbacks and Colorado Rockies. Our facility raises the bar for major league baseball spring training. Not only are we surrounded by some of the most beautiful mountain views in all of baseball, but we are building the biggest and best spring training baseball facility in the country.

The unique layout of our campus will put fans on top of all the action and up close to their favorite players from the major leagues. All spring long, fans will have many opportunities to interact with their favorite players from our home team, Arizona Diamondbacks and the Colorado Rockies.

This is an amazing site because it offers multiple baseball parks all at one location. Full-sized and all together, this is like a baseball practice field hub.

You can watch games here from both teams, and see more pro players in a single location than anywhere else in the country.

Features of the location:

7,000 fixed seats & 4,000 lawn seats

A uniquely designed roof in the traditional Native American ramada

Two 85,000-square-foot clubhouses for both clubs

Pepsi Patio–unique rooftop hospitality space with a 360-degree view located above the press box

Leinenkugel’s Sundeck / Cremily Party Deck–large hospitality space located on 3B/1B sides of press level

Cold Stone Kids Fun Field–free whiffle ball field located down the RF concourse

Scoreboard–High-definition 24 X 48 foot high LED video board

Seven parking lots with over 3,000 spaces

500,000+ square-foot grass multipurpose fields

12 practice fields & 3 acre irrigation lake

Time for some dinner. Even after some beers and peanuts, I wanted a meal before I settled in for the night.

The Roaring Fork

I went to the Roaring Fork because the online reviews were outstanding and the name was interesting. Some great queso than a steak. How can that be wrong? Well, it was not, it was a great meal.

Trying to be a good boy, I also ordered the Cesar salad which too was great.
