The Place of Dreams
If you have ever read any fairytales as a kid, you will probably remember reading about faraway places. These places had royal princesses and princes in grand castles. You probably imagined yourself as one of these characters. Iolani Palace brings you that sense of excitement and wonder in real time.
Built-in 1882, this palace was home to Hawaii’s last reigning monarchs. Since 1962, it has been named a National Historic Landmark and is a look into the past life of these royals. It features original furnishing and artifacts that have been restored to give guests the most authentic experience. Throughout your tour there you can walk through the different distinct rooms and marvel at the preservation of these sites. You will see the offices and rooms of the kings and queens and learn of the history that has taken place.
While this building stands tall in its place as an easily recognizable landmark, the grounds surrounding it are just as significant. This land was thought to be a place of worship for the royalty who lived there. Not only does this palace allow you to take a step back in time, but it also allows you to pay your respects to the Hawaiian culture. As you walk throughout the grounds and continue your time on the island, remember those that have walked before you.
Immerse yourself in the encapsulating culture and atmosphere that the south shore of Hawaii brings to you at Wyndham Waikiki Beach Walk.
