Holiday Inn Club Vacations Sunset Cove Resort

Holiday Inn Club Vacations Sunset Cove Resort is located on Marco Island, Florida. I have had the pleasure of visiting Marco Island several times before and was happy to be going back and checking out this new resort for myself.

Day One Travel & Arrival at Holiday Inn Club Vacations Sunset Cove Resort

On this trip, my journey began with a quick flight. The flight comes into Fort Myers, which has about a 4-hour flight, which is better than an almost 15-hour drive.

I grabbed my rental car and headed to the resort after I landed. It is about a 1-hour drive from the airport to the resort and to Marco Island. It is also a fairly straight drive.

This is an amazing trip any time of the year, but in the fall or winter when it is cold at home, this is an amazing escape from your day-to-day. Here you are so close to the equator that it is warm year-round.

Another fabulous time!

Perfect week vacation! The location is great and within walking distance of fabulous food and drinks. The property, pool, and rooms are very clean and well-kept, employees do a wonderful job. Finally, the front desk is always welcoming, providing recommendations, and smiling. Thank you, as always, Neal, Dan, Angie, Jackie, and Beth for being awesome (as well as others behind the scenes we do not see). Another perfectly relaxing week. We will be back!

3-bedroom condo in Marco

Superb visit and everything about the hotel was perfect. We’ll be back.

Can’t wait to stay here again

Never had my children asked to stay at a place again just to see the lady at the front desk again. I will absolutely be staying here again.

We booked this property for a family vacation to celebrate my wife’s 60th birthday. Marco Island has always been a favorite place for us for many years. This resort is well located and accessible to the beaches and other attractions. We enjoyed the spacious room and the views from our balcony. After heavy rain, the water did not drain from our screened lanai since there is no floor drain. We could not use it in standing water. However, one call to the front desk, and within minutes, maintenance was there with a wet/dry vac to remove the water. Great accommodations, great location, and value. Friendly staff. We will definitely book our next Marco Island vacation at this resort.

Great Location and Great Staff

Marco Island is a beautiful place, and the Resort is a great facility. The Staff at this property are the most helpful and friendly employees I have encountered during any vacation stay. They make sure you have a great stay.

Fabulous stay

We had a wonderful stay at Sunset Cove on Marco Island. Rooms were large and well decorated and, most importantly, so clean! I’m very picky about where we stay- has to be very well maintained and the rooms have to be very well cleaned. Holiday Inn Sunset Cove rooms were spotless. The front desk staff was wonderful, especially Beth and Jackie. Answered phone calls right away and always greeted us when we came and went. Loved the quiet hours after 10 pm too. Very convenient for shops and restaurants.

Wonderful resort

We stayed for our honeymoon and loved every minute of it. We have never been on a vacation where we were not ready to return home after the week. The staff at the resort were always ready and willing to help. The villas were super clean and huge, very comfortable, and had beautiful views. The shuttle and beach equipment rentals were very convenient. Would recommend this resort to anyone and we hope to return next year.

Repeat Guest

This property is a gem in the IHG family. Outstanding facility matched with solid management and a very personable and helpful staff. I have been a member since 1986, am well-traveled, and I give this Sunset Cove a 10 rating. These folks care about customer service. Once again, my family had a great time.

Ms Fajardo

We spent a weekend at this resort and we had a great time. The inside and outside of the premises were clean. The sunset was beyond extraordinary. We always travel with kids, one of them with autism. We spent more of our time at the pool and in the recreational area playing ping-pong and other games. It was an excellent experience for the entire family.

The Villas

This resort offers 3-bedroom villas that are impressive. Each one is over 1,600 sq ft and some are nearly 2,000 sq ft. These villas are more than just large accommodations. They are finished well and maintained perfectly. With full kitchens, comfortable baths, and plenty of space to relax and unwind. These are perfect for your family or friends’ vacation.

It is also nice having your own full-size washer and dryer in the unit for those wet bathing suits or to refresh your clothing during your stay.

Day Two Kayaking

KAYAK THE TEN THOUSAND ISLANDS

The 10,000 islands are the name given to this area, and it is a great place to rent a kayak or better yet, join a group. I am out of practice but an accomplished kayaker. I spent summers when I was young in kayaks in the ocean and even on local waterways near my home. If they say that you need 10,000 hours doing something to become an expert, then I am close to that amount of hours in.

However, even I know the importance of not doing some things solo. So, if you and your guests can go together, a rental might be fine, or you can go with a local guide and kayak service which makes it fun, but also much safer.

The local waterways do have gators here, and the weather can change quickly, so going out with a guide and a group is a good idea. I chose Kayak Marco for this trip they were great to work with and the local guide was very good. For $65 I went out with a group for 2.5 hours and it was well worth the cost to be safe with a group and have the guided experience.

The guides even take photos and send those to you for free instead of markup or upselling, which was a nice touch.

After my kayak experience, I was ready to eat. I did not feel it, but I was ready. So I went to a spot I have enjoyed before on the island. The Speakeasy offers waterfront dining. I chose the blackened flounder,, and it was great. I can get this back home in Virginia, but I was just in the mood for fish. What can I say?

Day Three Just Beachy

I started the day on the beach after last night watching the sunset from the same beach. Later today I am going out fishing since this is one of the best fishing spots in the world.

The beaches on Marco Island are great and after a storm or just a windy night full of shells. Great to walk on and gather a seashell or two.

The public access beach here is one of the best on the island and offers stunning views and great shelling first thing in the morning.

Where is the best place to go shelling?

When you are on the beach, walk right towards the crescent. The tides seem to always deposit some shells in this area. This is especially after a windy or even stormy night. Just get to the beach as soon as the sun is up to beat other shell searchers to the best shells.

Tigertail Beach

Tigertail Beach is like having your own private beach. I did not cross the lagoon on this visit, but I have in the past. If the tide is coming in, you may want to catch the trip across the lagoon at low tide later.

After a day of playing with waves, looking for shells, and walking a ton, I was ready to head back to the resort to stretch out at the pool and just sip on a few adult beverages.

Do you want your own trip toward the equator? Make sure you book with Tzort and you can spend the savings on your trip.
